The No. 2 fitness trend for 2022 is home gyms. Home gyms continue to be a popular alternative to going to a gym. This is the 1st year this has appeared on the ACSM Trends!

For 16 years now, ACSM has circulated an electronic survey to professionals around the world to determine health & fitness trends for the following year. The survey is designed to confirm or to introduce new trends (not fads) that will have a perceived positive impact on the industry according to the international respondents.

Personal training includes fitness testing and goal setting with the trainer working one-on-one with a client to prescribe workouts specific to their individual needs and goals. Since this survey was first published in 2006, personal training has always been in the top 10.
